Julie Niyonizera, D.C.

Dr. Julie has been all over the world with chiropractic and has been in Hendersonville, Tennessee for over 7 years. Growing up in Ohio in a large family she has long been interested in holistic health care. She is thankful her mom started taking her to a chiropractor as a baby and kept the family healthy primarily using natural care throughout childhood.

Dr. Julie studied at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and received a B.S. in Biology in 2004. After an internship working with HIV/AIDS patients in Ethiopia in 2005 she fell in love with Africa and wanted to offer chiropractic care in an African context. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa in 2009, and then practiced in Washington State. In 2012, she moved to the East African country of Rwanda to establish the first chiropractic practice in the country. Her practice was a great mix of African and international patients.

With a deep love for pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic care, Dr. Julie volunteered free weekly chiropractic care to women and infants at a pre/post-natal clinic in partnership with midwives. She also offered free care to groups of children with special physical and mental needs on a consistent basis. In 2014, after marrying, they spent the next year in Bangalore, India, working with a chiropractic clinic. They returned to the US and have been in Tennessee since 2016. They have one daughter and enjoy family together!

Dr. Julie has several specialty chiropractic areas: maternal health and pediatrics, sports injury care and prevention, dry needling therapy, upper cervical (NUCCA) care, and very gentle, low-force adjusting techniques.

She loves taking care of families, especially moms and children! She has years of pediatric experience, has completed many ICPA pediatric training courses. Growing up as an athlete in multiple sports, she has personal and professional experience in preparing for competitions (basketball, soccer, triathlons), and working in sports injury prevention and recovery care. She loves specializing in sports and extremity (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles) chiropractic care, and wants to help you stay as active as possible and increase your performance. Dr. Julie has trained in specific upper cervical chiropractic (NUCCA), which is both very gentle and specific to the correction that is needed to align a very important area of the upper neck-where the brain and the spine connect, allowing the rest of the body to restore proper alignment and nerve function. This allows her to care specifically for significant neurological issues arising from head or spinal traumas. She also uses several very gentle, low force techniques to help restore balance and nerve energy to the whole body.

Other than chiropractic, you’ll find Dr. Julie exercising, outside hiking, hanging out with her husband and daughter, reading a book, and traveling and learning about as many new cultures as possible.
